A study was conducted to compare the urban forest management in three forests Samarinda City. The application of GIS (Geographic Information System) is one alternatives conduct a variety processes such as: providing geographical information system, identifying areas Samarinda, helping plan process map digitalization and performing overlay process. main method used for data analysis on technique. research findings showed that: 1) appointment as initial step development needed more implementation from government; 2) determination socialization owner public 1992 2019; 3) management. There were some similarities differences locations. among locations that had already met minimum standards location even though there still outside these which did not meet standard. managing forests. A Geobia Approach to Estimate Large Area Forest Canopy Height Using Lidar Transects and Quickbird Imagery

Numerous applications of small footprint airborne lidar (light detection and ranging) have provided highly accurate results for estimating forest height. However, the associated acquisition cost remains high, which limits its use for wall-to-wall large area mapping. In this study, we developed a novel framework by integrating GEOBIA (GEOgraphic Object-Based Image Analysis), lidar transects and ...

Radiometric Normalization of Ikonos Image Using Quickbird Image for Urban Area Change Detection

Remotely sensed multitemporal, multisensor data are often required for change detection applications. A common problem associated with the use of these data is the grey value difference caused by non-surface factors such as different illumination, atmospheric, or sensor conditions. Such a difference makes it difficult to accurately detect changes using automatic methods. Effective image normali...

Forest Species Classification and Tree Crown Delineation Using Quickbird Imagery

Efficient forest management requires detailed knowledge of forest stands, including species information and individual tree parameters. Remote sensing data are increasingly being used to investigate forest classification at both coarse and fine levels. In this paper, we first examined the capability of QuickBird multispectral imagery for species level forest classification using eCognition soft...

Detecting and Modelling the Trend of Change in the Forest Land Use in Garasu Watershed Area Using Landscape Metrics

Detecting, predicting and quantifying the trends of landscape pattern change in the forests of Gharasu watershed area are necessary so as to assess the crises or prevent them. To this aim, the land use maps belonging to the years 1987, 2002 and 2018 were classified through the maximum likelihood method, and the forest area changes were estimated. Then, through the Geomod model and the forest ch...

Mapping forest structure for wildlife habitat analysis using multi-sensor (LiDAR, SAR/InSAR, ETM+, Quickbird) synergy

Measurements of forest structure are important for wildlife habitat management. An optimal strategy for mapping forest structure would include detailed measurements of the vertical dimension, which are traditionally provided by field sampling, together with the broad spatial coverage afforded by remote sensing. While no single sensor is capable of delivering this at the present time, it should ...
